Disciplinary measures available against natural and legal persons
The FDC catalogues disciplinary measures and distinguishes tools that apply only to legal persons (clubs/associations) from those that apply to natural persons. Clubs and associations can also be responsible for the behaviour of players, officials, members, or supporters in defined cases.
Key points
- Some measures — notably a ban on registering new players — are listed for legal persons only.
- Natural persons face a different sanctions catalogue (warnings, fines, suspensions, bans on taking part in football-related activity, etc.).
- Member associations and clubs may be responsible for the behaviour of their members, players, officials or supporters in the circumstances the Code describes.
- Choosing the correct measure type is as examinable as identifying the underlying offence.
Exam traps
- Imposing a registration ban on an individual agent or player as if they were a club.
- Assuming supporter misconduct can never engage club responsibility.
- Treating every fine as interchangeable with a match suspension without reading the available measures list.
